I held my mother as she took her last breath from pancreatic cancer. Being strong for everyone else was my weakest moment. It was my best friend — my wife — who carried me through.
I served my country on active duty. When I was released I didn't know how to continue. In my darkest moment it was my son's voice that saved me. He came into my room crying, afraid he had lost me. The love for my children literally woke me up.
Then one day my oldest son called to tell me they had a new baby girl. And in that moment I realized something that hit me hard. I had fallen off my plan. The plan to leave a strong financial legacy for everyone who comes after me.
That granddaughter woke me up again. And this time I built something.

Years ago a young lady came to me struggling with College Algebra. She had three kids and worked as an assistant manager at McDonald's. She said "All I need to do is pass this class and me and my babies can have a better life."
I didn't teach her algebra. I found the algebra she already knew.
She counted cash drawers every single day. She balanced known amounts against unknown totals every shift. That unknown total? That was her X. She was already solving for X and didn't know it.
When it clicked she screamed. She got every problem right. She retested. She passed. She graduated after three years of being stuck in that one class.
"You already know algebra. I just haven't taught you how you know it yet. But I am tonight."
That's what I do. I don't give you answers you don't have. I reveal the answers already living inside you. Two other students from that same season went on to become a music artist and a lawyer.
